I wanted a space on my site to champion different organizations. Whether I'm a member, volunteer, or just an admirer, all these organizations do great work!

There are many wonderful organizations in the Washington, DC area. Below are merely the ones I've been involved with most frequently.

  Current & Previous Employers
  Singer Network
Dynamic, online toolbox by and for choral singers. It was launched in 2008, and offers an incredible array of articles, resources, and tools for choral singers, as well as a user-submitted events calendar and recordings archive, and a community forum where singers can share stories and experiences.

  Chorus America
National Association for professional and community choruses. Offering seminars on chorus management, choral conducting masterclasses, and an annual Conference for members of the choral community, Chorus America strives to build a dynamic and inclusive choral community so that more people are transformed by the beauty and power of choral singing.

  Ford's Theatre Society
The theatrical production company partnered with Ford's Theatre, where President Lincoln was shot.

  Professional Affiliations
  Americans for the Arts
National advocacy group for the arts in America.

  DC Web Women
A trade association created to promote women in web-related careers, and partner with local technology, web, and new media communities/groups that advocate for women in technology.

Nonprofit Technology Network
Offers webinars, the conference, and other opportunities for us nonprofit techies to connect.

  Volunteer & Service Organizations
  Community Forklift
Salvage & building surplus home improvement warehouse in Edmonton, MD. Creating green jobs and keeping construction detritus out of landfills for three years now.

  Dress for Success
Many of my business suits have gone to this wonderful organization that helps disadvantaged women get back into the work force with training and the gift of interview suits.

National Park Service at President's Park
While not a non-profit, this is a great park encompassing the White House and surrounding areas for which I volunteer.

  Community Arts Organizations
  Bargain Basement Game Show
The only theatrical game show that combines high-brow trivia with low-brow humor. Everyone in the audience plays as a contestant and has the chance to win fabulous (if inexpensive) prizes.

The Elden Street Players
A community theatre based in Herndon, VA out of an intimate "black box space" at the Industrial Strength Theatre.

  Joy of Motion
Offers some great dance classes. I took a few of their courses at their Atlas Theatre space in the H Street NE corridor.

  Renaissance Revelers
Medieval and Renaissance madrigal group, serving the greater DC-area. We usually perform a couple of weekends at the Maryland Renaissace Festival and offer numerous holiday season sets.

  The Rude Mechanicals
Edgy, innovative, classical theatre. Not your parent's Shakespeare.
